Downloading anti-malware software could help Alliance & Leicester customers from falling victim to internet fraudsters, it has been suggested.
Those in possession of an
online bank account from Alliance & Leicester are urged to download free software in an effort to protect their money.
Unveiling anti-malware product Rapport those in possession of the
Alliance & Leicester Premier Current Account and other bank accounts from the firm that can be managed online are encouraged to take steps to prevent their details from falling into the hand of fraudsters.
The software safeguards information such as pin numbers and protects people from being redirected to counterfeit websites.
Tim Brunt, head of internet banking at Alliance & Leicester, points out that the software will provide important protection for customers carrying out online banking activity "by ring-fencing their valuable information".
He adds that the program "is quick and easy to download".
In comments made last month Equifax spokesperson Neil Munroe urged people to protect their
UK accounts by being careful about who they give personal information to and to avoid responding to emails requesting bank account details.
