Barclays has introduced a new student current account.
Barclays yesterday (July 8th) introduced a new
current account package designed to help students manage their personal finances more effectively when they move away from home.
Students at university can often be left relying on
savings accounts in order to fund their way of life, but the bank's new deal is intended to afford increased levels of control and flexibility by allowing them to make the decision over what they really need from their bank account.
It can be important for undergraduates to compare savings before they embark on their academic journey, but Barclays' Student Additions account may be tempting as it allows an interest-free overdraft facility of up to £2,000.
Meanwhile, the account also offers a wide array of added incentives, including broadband, laptop and mobile phone deals. Andrew Harris, head of current accounts at Barclays, said: "We believe with the range of services and incentives available, this is one of the most flexible packages on offer to students this year."
In related news, Santander last month introduced a deal designed to encourage people to switch their current account by offering a £100 cash bonus to new customers.
