Santander has launched a new student current account with several benefits attached to it.
Students heading off to university in the coming weeks may want to consider the possibility of taking out a
Santander current account before leaving home.
As a new academic in the aftermath of the global economic downturn, obtaining the right
student accounts could be crucial to effectively controlling personal finances.
And for those with or without
Santander savings, the lender's new Student Current Account could be ideal, as it offers an interest-free overdraft of up to £2,000 as well as free insurance cover for items such as mobile phones and laptops worth more than £240 annually.
The deal - which is available to both new and returning students - also has an in-credit interest rate of two per cent on balances up to £500, which is intended to give people additional financial support when they have cash coming into their account.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Association of British Insurers commented recently that good
home insurance cover is vital for students.
