Santander unveils student account bonus

Santander is offering its student account holders the chance to win £1,000.

Student account holders with one financier may wish to get involved in a new scheme that could see them win £1,000 cash.

Earlier this week (August 17th), Santander announced it is offering all scholars using its Student Current Account the chance to win one of five £1,000 prizes until October 18th.

In addition, the lender is running an hourly £50 giveaway for 30 days as of midday next Monday (August 22nd), via its Facebook account.

Helen Bierton, head of Santander current accounts, explained this represents an added bonus for students taking out their primary bank account with the firm for the duration of their degree.

She added that the product has been specifically designed to offer "students the support they need from their bank throughout their time at university", through features such as a £2,000 interest-free overdraft.

Research published by Lloyds TSB earlier this week (August 17th) showed that 57 per cent of scholars are finding it tough to make ends meet at present.
