The Cheshire Building Society was established in Macclesfield in 1870. The Cheshire went on to merge with the Northwich Building Society in 1969. After a series of small mergers the branch network had grown to cover most of the North West totalling 37 branches.

In 2008 The Cheshire was merged with the Nationwide, which in essence has changed nothing about the structure of the business, it still trades from the same branches. It simply means that The Cheshire now has the added support of the larger society behind it.

The Cheshire Building Society offers a range of ISA products from instant access cash ISA to fixed rate products over a 1 year period. The Cheshire offers competitive rates across its ISA range, however in return in most cases it will insist on a higher deposit levels than most other Buildings Societies.
