Credit cards have become more and more advanced as time has passed, shaking of the stigma they once possessed for causing debt, and although they can still encourage people to spend money they don't have, if used properly they can actually help you to get out of debt, or better still prevent yourself from ever getting into debt.

This can be achieved by using the balance transfers interest free feature provided by some credit cards. This allows you to move your existing debt over to a single credit card with 0% for a specified period, giving you breathing space to pay off your debt over a longer period of time, without adding to it through interest.

Most credit card providers charge a small percentage of the balance moved over as a fee. This fee was introduced to avoid people simply shifting debts from one card to another for the balance transfers interest free feature and never actually clearing the debt, known as stoozing.
