Consumers have been warned to take caution when accessing bank accounts online.
Those looking to access
online savings accounts or any form of
UK account via the internet should do so cautiously, one writer suggests.
Cliff D'Arcy points out in a lovemoney.com article that only those PCs which are "100 per cent secure" should be used to access
online bank accounts. This, he states, means computers in one's own home.
Meanwhile, the use of public access devices for such a purpose was strongly discouraged.
People concerned about computer security may also be interested in his advice that online purchases should always be made using a
credit card.
Doing so means that any goods bought will be covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, a protection not afforded when debit cards are used.
Meanwhile, Rachel Robson urged Britons in a previous lovemoney.com article that keeping credit card details secure needs to be a financial priority and that they should never divulge their pin number to anyone, regardless of how much they trust them.
