0% Transfer

When a credit card provider refers to a 0% transfer, they are generally talking about 0% balance transfers. This is a great method for moving existing balances from credit cards or overdrafts, allowing you to pay off your debts in the given time limit, without paying a penny in interest charges.

Although 0% transfer cards don't charge you interest, there is usually a fee required which is a small percentage (around 3%) of the balance you wish to transfer. This is added onto your balance automatically when the transfer has gone through.

A good way of ensuring your balance is cleared before the 0% period expires is to divide your proposed balance by the number of interest free months you will get (remember to add on the transfer fee) then set up a standing order for this amount.
