Injuries dominate travel insurance claims
Hospital treatments will be the main source of travel insurance claims this year, according to new research.
Sainsbury's Bank estimates that nearly 250,000 hospital-related travel insurance claims will be made in 2005.
This significantly exceeds the 127,000 expected claims for holiday cancellations and 77,000 claims for delays.
Robert O'May of Sainsbury's travel insurance, advises all holidaymakers to take out comprehensive prior to going on holiday.
"The excitement of going on holiday means that people can sometimes forget to organise adequate travel insurance for themselves and their families," he said.
"Good cover is essential for those travelling abroad whether it's for a short-break, fortnight's holiday or a longer trip, so that if problems do occur, the impact can hopefully be kept to a minimum, allowing you to continue to enjoy your holiday," Mr O'May added.
