Saga Health Insurance is expanding its range of Health Cash Plans in order to provide people with higher payments for a number of everyday healthcare treatments.
In response to customer demand, Cash Plan level three provides increased levels of cover for products including up to £190 of cover for both dental and optical treatments and up to £600 for therapies such as physiotherapy and osteopathy.
The ever-spiralling cost of dental treatment is turning more people to health cash plans to pay for hefty dental bills. The average cost of a private check up is £40-£50 and a small filling costs between £80-£100.
Saga says it has received a five per cent rise in the number of dental treatment claims in the last year, accounting for a third of total claims made.
Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga, commented: "The lack of NHS provision for dentistry, chiropody and chiropractic treatment has driven many people to go private. People are increasingly looking for ways to offset the cost of these treatments, which is when health cash plans become particularly useful."
