Sales of travel insurance products for older people have risen, it has been revealed.
Older people are increasingly satisfying their wanderlust, new research shows.
Figures released by Age Concern Enterprises reveal that growing numbers of those over the age of 65 are planning trips to long-haul destinations.
And while there has also been a rise in such consumers going on winter sports vacations, it seems as consumers are also ensuring they are covered before jetting off, as internet sales of the firm's travel insurance products have risen 35 per cent over the past 12 months.
Taking out annual insurance also appears to be more popular, with the purchasing of such British insurance cover rising by 40 per cent in the 75 to 87-year-old demographic.
"Globe-trotting is no longer the reserve of the young. Over-65s are as likely to be travelling the world as younger generations as they search for ways to bring excitement to retirement," Joe Young of Age Concern Insurance Services says.
Whatever their age, Britons going away may want to consider investing in single trip insurance or some other form of travel cover, as such policies can offer protection in the event of a medical emergency, cancelled flight or lost luggage.
