The number of car insurance claims being filed following pothole damage is on the up, it has been revealed.
An increasing amount of car insurance claims are being made as a direct result of potholes, new research shows.
Between January 18th and February 3rd, AA Insurance reports that the number of claims received due to such damage is some four times higher than the equivalent period of time in 2009.
And as the firm points out that the cost of repairs to a vehicle after hitting a pothole can run into several thousand pounds, now may be an ideal time for motorists to seek out competitive British insurance cover.
Previous research by the firm revealed the typical cost of comprehensive cover rose 7.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2009 to stand at just over £1,000, car day insurance consumers may be interested to hear.
"The pothole season is with us early this year," Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, states.
"It would take a quarry-like pothole to cause the sort of damage that would justify an insurance claim, but there are certainly some 'A-list' holes out there," he adds.
