Aviva is to offer an optional extra on its travel insurance packages from now on.
Aviva has today (May 21st) announced that it will provide an optional add-on for its standard
single trip insurance packages.
In order to help those customers affected by the extraordinary situation caused by the Icelandic volcano ash cloud, the insurer has decided to offer policyholders additional protection should their holiday be cancelled or delayed due to the widespread problems at UK airports.
As of June 1st, Aviva new or existing customers with either
annual insurance or single trip policies looking to
compare savings will be able to pay an extra £5 per insured person for a single trip and £10 per insured person for annual policyholders, which allows them several special benefits.
The deal offers clauses such as being covered for up to £5,000 per insured person for travel and accomodation costs that cannot be recovered from the holiday provider in the event of being unable to travel due to airports and/or airspace being closed for more than 24 hours from the date and time of the scheduled departure.
