M&S has said drivers must check their insurance policies before heading abroad by road.
Marks & Spencer (M&S) has today (May 25th) urged Brits planning to travel by road to mainland Europe this summer to ensure that they are fully covered by their
car insurance policy before leaving home.
Due to the ongoing flight chaos being caused by the Icelandic volcano ash cloud, many experts believe that going on holiday in the UK or Europe by car will be more popular than ever this year.
However, doing so without checking if a vehicle's
annual insurance or
breakdown car cover extends out of Britain could cost holidaymakers dearly in the long run, M&S has said.
Andrew Ferguson, M&S head of general insurance, insisted that travelling by car offers a genuine alternative to flying as it removes the risk of cancellations and delays. However, he added that it is crucial for drivers who are making longer journeys by car for the first time "to make sure they have the adequate car insurance and breakdown cover in place".
