AXA has today (June 1st) offered advice to fans travelling to South Africa for the World Cup this summer.
The tournament gets underway on June 11th and around 20,000 England supporters are expected to make the journey to the southern hemisphere during Fabio Capello's team's campaign, which kicks off against America in Rustenburg on June 12th.
The firm has said that for those without
annual insurance,
single trip insurance is essential for all Brits ahead of leaving the country in order to protect against lost or stolen goods while away.
Recommendations for supporters from the company includes tips such as carrying only small amounts of cash to avoid attracting the attention of thieves, packing any valuables being taken in hand luggage and keeping match tickets secure at all times. Also, being aware at cash machines is advisable as these are often targeted by criminals.
While Alison Patrick, head of travel at AXA, said that everyone taking
single trip travel to South Africa this summer should enjoy a crime-free stay in the country as long as they are vigilant, she added that making preparations before leaving home is essential.
