Churchill has warned football fans to be wary of opportunist thieves during the World Cup.
Churchill
home insurance has today (June 8th) said that football fans should be wary of opportunist thieves as they enjoy the World Cup this summer.
According to the finance company, nearly one-fifth - 18 per cent - of all households in the UK are planning to buy a new television on which to watch the action from South Africa, while five per cent have already done so.
However, over half of all respondents to Churchill indicated that they put empty television boxes and packaging outside straight in their recycling bin and seven per cent put it straight in the rubbish as it is, therefore endangering their
annual insurance premiums.
According to Martin Scott of the firm, this could act as a magnet for criminals and may affect consumers'
contents and buildings insurance policies.
"Households are unwittingly making public their recent purchases and could increase the chance of a break-in," he added.
England's World Cup campaign gets underway against the US in Rustenburg on June 12th.
