New research shows that many Brits are risking invalidating their single trip insurance policies.
New research released today (July 5th) shows that many Brits taking
single trip travel journeys are risking losing money by not being honest about their personal health.
According to Sainsbury's, more than half a million people travelled abroad in the last year without telling their insurance provider about a specific medical condition they suffer from in order to try to keep policy costs as low as possible following the recession.
However, whether in possession of
annual insurance or
single trip insurance, Sainsbury's has warned that not telling a cover provider about a problem before leaving home can lead to huge medical bills as their package is likely to be invalidated should they have to make a claim.
Scott Gorman,
travel insurance manager at the supermarket, said "it is really important that people are open and honest with their insurer" in order to avoid any "exceptionally high" bills.
Meanwhile, a study published recently by Defaqto found that around more than 75 per cent of travel insurance policies do not cover airline failure as part of their package.
