An expert has said that the cheapest home insurance package may not be best for all homeowners.
People searching for
annual insurance cover for their home should not necessarily choose the cheapest deal available to them, an expert has said today (July 6th).
Research released earlier this year (May 22nd) by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks showed that homeowners without
contents and buildings insurance could face bills of up to £200 million annually.
The study found that there are around 150,000 burglaries every year in Britain involving houses that are not covered by
home insurance, with an average cost to the owner of more than £1,200.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs director at the
British Insurance Brokers Association, has said that it is "sensible" for people to compare savings when seeking the best package for their personal needs but also warned against simply choosing the deal that costs least.
"At the end of the day, it is not just about price. It is actually about having the right cover and suitable protection for you," he added.
