Marks & Spencer has said that people should check if their home insurance cover includes protection against subsidence.
People with Marks & Spencer home insurance have been urged by the retail financier to check their
annual insurance policies due to the recent dry weather.
According to the company, the fact that the country has experienced its driest six-month period for 80 years so far in 2010 has caused increased levels of household subsidence throughout Britain.
And people who look to
compare savings prior to making any major financial decision have been advised by Marks & Spencer to check their policy sooner rather than later in order to avoid any unwanted expenditure that could be incurred if a subsidence is not covered within their document.
Factors contributing to more subsidence include the shrinking of clay soil due to a shortage of moisture in the ground.
Meanwhile, recent research from the lender revealed that some 49 per cent of people run a risk on their
home insurance policy by leaving their garden shed unlocked.
