Santander has stated that it is important to compare savings on foreign currency exchanges before going on holiday.
People heading away on
single trip travel holidays this summer will fork out more than £49 million in unnecessary foreign exchange charges unless they
compare savings properly, new research has shown.
According to Santander, the average British holidaymaker now spends around £350 per week abroad, with many now using their
credit card to pay for purchases overseas as well as cash.
The research goes on to state that over 18 million Britons are planning on going on holiday overseas in the coming months, in spite of issues such as the ongoing effects of the global economic downturn and airline strikes.
And many of these people - who may also be interested in taking out
Santander travel insurance prior to leaving the UK - are overpaying for their foreign currency.
Emma Roberts, director of Santander Cards, advised: "Holidaymakers should make sure they pack a card that doesn't charge them for making purchases abroad."
Meanwhile, AXA stated recently that
single trip insurance is vital for anyone going on holiday this summer to protect against the loss or damage of their personal possessions.
