Research has shown that students take around £4,000 worth of goods with them to university.
It may never have been more important for students to take out
annual insurance prior to going to university, if new research is to be believed.
According to a study published by Endsleigh, holding a
home insurance policy could be vital for those people heading off around the country to study if they are to avoid the possibility of potentially having to raid their
savings account to pay for lost or stolen goods.
This is because the average UK student takes just under £4,000 worth of goods with them to university, with over a third of these often being carried with them around the campus.
For example, some 93 per cent of students take mobile phones with them when they go to university, while almost three quarters - 73 per cent - leave with their mp3 players in their baggage.
In related news ahead of the new academic year beginning, Halifax announced recently that it is to maintain its student current account deal - including an interest-free overdraft of up to £3,000 - throughout 2010-11.
