Sainsbury's has said that many holidaymakers risk their car insurance policies while abroad.
Millions of
car insurance holders from the UK are risking breaking the law while driving on
single trip travel holidays abroad, new research has revealed.
According to a study published by Sainsbury's yesterday (August 19th), many holidaymakers with
breakdown car cover will - either intentionally or unintentionally - fall foul of the authorities during their trip.
The research stated that some 1.5 million Brits have been involved in a road accident abroad in their own car at some point, while a further 6.5 million people are planning to take their vehicle overseas in the next year.
And this, the supermarket bank warns could lead to legal issues in other countries. For example, around a third - 32 per cent - of respondents heading to France indicated they would not carry a reflective jacket in their car, which is illegal there.
Meanwhile, Defaqto stated recently that car insurance providers should give their customers more information over the exact charges they are paying for their policy.
