Home insurance cover should be apriority for new students, an expert has said.
An expert has stated that taking out quality
home insurance cover should be top of any student's priority list before they leave home to begin studying.
While ensuring their
contents and buildings insurance cover is up to scratch may not be seen as essential by many people caught up in the excitement of starting a new chapter of their life at university, a spokesman for the Association of British Insurers has said that taking the time to
compare savings is vital.
"When you are starting student life insurance is probably not at the top of your list, but unfortunately a lot of student areas have higher burglary rates," he said.
The expert's comments came after the publication of data from Endsleigh earlier this month which showed that the average student will take just under £4,000 worth of possessions with them to university this year due to the cost of items such as laptops, music systems and iPods.
