The AA has reported that car insurance claims are increasing due to poor weather conditions in the UK.
Claims on
breakdown car cover policies are likely to increase in volume significantly in the coming weeks as snow and ice continues to wreak havoc on the country's roads, the AA has said.
According to the
car insurance provider, there has been a ten per cent climb in the number of claims being made on such packages already this winter in the UK due to the adverse weather, with around one fifth of all these instances being attributed to snow and ice.
However, this figure jumps to more than half - 51 per cent - in Scotland alone and more than one third - 34 per cent - in Wales, meaning that claims on
annual insurance products because of wintry conditions are even more frequent in these nations.
Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, remarked that motorists should take notice of official warnings and avoid using roads unless it is absolutely necessary for them to do so.
This comes after the company recently stated that making sure a policy provides cover for accidents caused by poor weather is essential in the winter.
