Students need to make sure they have home insurance of some sort, an expert has said.
Student account holders must not take it for granted that their personal possessions are automatically covered by general
annual insurance at their halls of residence.
That is according to Ed Bowsher, head of consumer finance at Love Money, who has urged all scholars to find out if they are protected before moving into their new abode so as to avoid any potential confusion or unexpected costs further down the line.
"Students should also check their parents'
home insurance policies. Some policies will cover students even if they're living away from home," the expert added.
Last week (August 18th), Aviva called on all people heading off to complete a degree to take out effective cover for all their expensive gadgets.
And Mr Bowsher went on to say that students often do not realise just how valuable belongings such as a laptop, smartphone and expensive clothes are, meaning they neglect taking out insurance.
