Drivers 'can access cost-effective car insurance'

There are cost-effective car insurance options on the market, an expert believes.

People scouring the market for car insurance can benefit from products that are both cheap and well-suited to their individual needs.

That is the opinion of Robert Gifford, executive director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS), who believes there is a wide range of attractive annual insurance packages available for drivers.

Research published by the Motor Insurers' Bureau last week showed that apathy towards taking out car day insurance in West Yorkshire and the West Midlands is stunting nationwide growth in the number of those avoiding driving without cover.

Mr Gifford explained there are many reasons why individuals opt to use their vehicle when uninsured, such as the belief that any fine incurred from the police will be less than the cost of taking out a policy.

However, he went on to insist that it is "certainly possible to get cost-effective and good value insurance", meaning all people should strive to sign up for cover.
