Drivers need to make sure their car insurance offers protection against collisions with uninsured motorists, it has been said.
Motorists scouring the
car insurance market for an attractive policy should make sure any deal will protect them should they be hit by an uninsured driver, a new study has suggested.
Research published yesterday (September 27th) by Defaqto established that 17 per cent of all comprehensive
car day insurance policies offer cover to their no claims discount following such a collision.
Within this survey - which involved scrutinising the
annual insurance details of 5,000 road users - it was revealed this figure has grown from 13 per cent over the course of the last two years.
However, despite this rise, David Black, insight analyst for general insurance at Defaqto, urged drivers to double check their deals.
"As always, people should seek to match what they need from car insurance with the features that different policies provide when comparing what's available on the market," he advised.
This comes shortly after Mr Black said providers in the sector need to take some responsibility to lower premiums attached to young motorists' insurance.
