Direct Line has announced the launch of a discount for anyone
insuring more than one car. The discount will automatically be given to
policyholders if they insure two or more cars with the firm. The move comes
as research recently commissioned by the firm show that 85% of households
now have at least one car and 40% of households have two or more vehicles
at their address. For every second, third and up to a maximum of 10 policies
the customer will benefit from a 10% discount. So, for example, a family
of four all driving their own cars will now save 40% on the cost of the
overall policy. The discount will also be available to friends living at
the same address and motorists who are named drivers on another Direct Line
policy, regardless of where they live.
Usually discounts for insuring multiple cars are limited to drivers related
to each other or those living at the same address.
The policy is now open to all new and existing customers. Existing Direct
Line customers can choose whether to apply the discount to the first policy
to renew or the policy with the largest premium.
The two policy renewal dates do not need to match and customers with
one policy who call up to insure another car will automatically be given
the discount when they insure the second car.
