Privilege: Two thirds of drivers will be involved in an accident
Nearly two thirds of people will be involved in a road accident, according to new research.
A study by Privilege Insurance suggests that 65 per cent of the UK population have been involved in a road accident either as a driver, pedestrian or cyclist ? with many incidents happening before they turn 30.
Just over 15 per cent of people were involved in a road accident whilst still under 16 and 45 per cent had an accident during their 20s ? suggesting that younger people are not the safest drivers on the roads.
Older drivers appeared to show more road sense, with less than one per cent of drivers aged over 65 claiming to have caused a road accident in the last year.
"British drivers should view these findings as a wake up call to look closely at their driving behaviour," said Ian Parker, managing director of Privilege Insurance.
"We appreciate fully the stresses and strains of modern life, but urge people to value the importance of driving safely so that ultimately we work to reduce the impact of road accidents."
