Those couples thinking of saying 'I do' are being encouraged to save for the big-day as the average cost of a UK wedding is now £17,000.
Despite the fact that car thefts have halved in the last five years, it seems older models are the most susceptible to thieves, according to Churchill Car Insurance.
Churchill calculated that car thefts had fallen from just over 500,000 at the turn of the century, to around 250,000 this year.
The research from the insurer also discovered a link between car age and theft frequency, pointing out that older models are prime targets for thieves.
The most commonly stolen cars in the report are either out of manufacture, or have been replaced with more secure models.
Darren McCauley, head of car insurance at Churchill said: "Security systems in cars have become much more sophisticated in recent years.
"Compulsory fitting of immobilisers in new cars has been a major factor in the reduction of car theft and modern cars are hard to steal unless in possession of the keys.
"Many of our customers find that their car has been stolen after a break-in at their home, when the car keys have been taken."
