Career moves can reduce car insurance
It may be worth changing jobs just to get lower car insurance premiums, according to new research.
Bank managers are likely to face the lowest car insurance prices, while professional footballers can expect to pay more than double, says a report from Confused.com.
A bank manager pays an average £309.39 per year, while a footballer could have to pay £691.69 for the same make and model of car.
Motorists are being advised to provide an accurate job description to insurance companies, as subtle misunderstandings could result in higher premiums.
For example, a TV broadcaster could pay an average of £448 for cover, but if they describe themselves as a TV announcer the cost would increase to £681.
"Making sure that you put down the right career is critical," said Confused.com managing director Kate Armstrong.
"Although you can't keep chopping and changing your career to get the best deal on your car insurance, you can make sure you're not paying above the odds," she added.
