Cahoot estimates the cost of watching England in Germany at £4808

The ups and downs of being a dedicated football fan can weigh heavily on the nerves and, cahoot reckons, it can also be a significant drain on finances. cahoot estimates that it would cost you around £4,808 to travel to Germany and watch every England game in the World Cup this summer (assuming that England made it through to the final). With around 5,000 England fans expected to see each match in Germany, this means that £24 million will be spent following the team.

Even to watch just the three group games would cost £1,883. For those fans that can't afford to be there in person, cahoot estimates that it would cost around £232 to watch every England game in a bar or pub. This includes £199 for food and drink, plus £33 for a shirt and scarf.

cahoot Managing director, John Goddard said, "Despite the World Cup being closer to home this year, the cost of following the team is still almost £5,000. Those people who are lucky enough to watch England in every match, including the final, would have a once in a lifetime experience, but this certainly won't come cheap. You would have had to have saved £95 a month for four years since the last World Cup to have enough to pay for the trip and all the matches."
