Homeowners offered repair loans
Low-income homeowners in the south-west will soon be able to apply for vital house repair loans.
Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) council is collaborating with non-profit community finance group Wessex Reinvestment Trust to offer the loans.
The loans can fund work including roofing, electrics, windows and damp-proofing in order for the property to meet the government's decent home standards.
A spokesman told the BBC: "People eligible for these loans include working people, single people, older people, all on a lower income, as well as disabled people on benefit."
The three per cent loans will be offered to couples on a collective income of less than £30,000, who must also be in receipt of Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit.
People over the age of 60 on less than £125 a week may also apply, along with people in receipt of Disability Working Allowance, Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance.
