An expert has said Ofcom should make it simpler to switch broadband providers.
Consumers should be able to
compare savings on the
best broadband deals and switch internet service providers (ISPs) more easily in the UK.
That is according to Michael Phillips, product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk, who has said that the process of searching for
top broadband should not be as tough as it currently is in Britain.
He added that the average person could save between £200 and £300 by changing their ISP, but labelled the notion that switching other household services such as energy being easier than broadband "unpractical".
"The reason [for that] is because there is too much onus on the customer to facilitate the switch," he stated.
The expert went on to say that Ofcom should now "take that onus off the customer" so that the individual is able to focus entirely on getting the right provider rather than worrying about switching.
Mr Phillips' remarks came after the publication of data by Ofcom, which revealed that 45 per cent of consumers with broadband think it is too much hassle to change their ISP.
