Virgin has announced the launch of a new 100 Mb internet service.
Consumers searching for the country's
best broadband deals might be delighted to note that one provider is to launch a new ultra-fast internet service.
In news that may also be of interest to those with
Virgin credit cards, the organisation's multimedia arm announced yesterday (October 27th) that it will begin rolling out its new
top broadband package - which has a speed of 100 Mb - in December.
This connection is some 20 times faster than the current average across the country and is intended to "propel the UK up the global broadband league table".
For example, users will be able to download an entire music album and a movie in five and 90 seconds respectively while on the next generation service.
Neil Berkett, chief executive officer at Virgin Media, commented that this development represents "a significant milestone in the UK's broadband evolution", while prime minister David Cameron labelled it "exciting news".
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that BT will be implementing a high-speed fibre optic broadband line across the country in the near future.
