Tesco Overview

Tesco Personal Finance is a commercial bank based in the United Kingdom available to customers over the telephone or online. The company is owned by Tesco, the UK's largest supermarket.

Tesco Personal Finance started of as a joint venture with the Royal Bank of Scotland. On 28 July 2008 Tesco announced that they were buying out the Royal Bank of Scotland's 50% stake in the company for £950 million.
Tesco offer a range of financial products which include Tesco credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, savings accounts and a broad variety of insurance. They market themselves by providing leaflets in Tesco stores and through the Tesco website. In the 52 weeks to 24 February 2007 The business made a profit of £130 million, of which Tesco's share was £66 million.

Tesco Bank fully support the Faster Payments scheme, allowing customers to deposit money in to their Tesco Savings Account quicly, or credit their nominated account without having to wait for long periods of time for the transaction to complete.
